Redundancy

How do “normal” people do it? How do they add spice and fun into their lives? I am pretty sure that my life is the epitome of redundant and I don’t know how to break the cycle…

Every weekday begins the same way, I wake up at 5:15, get in the shower, and fight for 45 minutes with my 15 year old son to get out of bed or we are going to be late for school. The about 6:15 AM we leave for school, then it is time for me to go to work. Sometimes I get lucky and get to work a regular 8 hour day, but 2 or 3 days a week I have been working 16 hour days. Why so long? Well, its hard when you are a single parent and owed more than $30,000 in child support (but that’s a story for another time).

I love my job, I am a pharmacy technician in a hospital, and I love the pace and the people that I work with and the variety of things I get to learn. But when you work 50-60 hours a week and maybe get 4-5 hours of sleep a night, it starts to wear on you. A lot. So then in my free time, all I want to do is sleep and catch up on the housework that I haven’t had time to do while I was working. Then there are band concerts and band practices and school functions. Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids, and watching them play their sports and band, but sometimes I feel I need more.

So this is my question.. how do normal people do it? How do people make time or have time to have friends and go out and have a drink. I mean hell, I haven’t even had time to write a blog in 8 months… I want to be able to have dinner with a friend (that I don’t currently have), or go shopping at the mall with said friend, or have a drink, or something.. So here is to figuring out how to do that..
